Most of us have used our basements as a household “catch all”. An unseen storage area. Out of sight, out of mind. Right?
When my son was younger, I used to refer to our basement as “The Museum Of Brightly Colored Plastic Toys”, and you’d have to clear a path to get from one side to the other at your own risk.
Think about how much space you have in your unfinished basement. Now think about what you could actually DO with this space with the proper planning, design, and construction!
Wet Bars, Media Rooms, Extra Guest Bedroom, Full Bathroom… these are ALL great uses of basement space. But what ELSE can this space be used for?
Here are three possible ideas to get your wheels spinning:
Tired of spreading out all your crafting goodies on the Kitchen table? Why not create a room in your basement with storage and plenty of tabletop space for your creative crafting projects?

Reading Area/Library/Book Nook:
I LOVE the idea of “undesirable” space being put to good use. Why not create a “book nook” in the space under the staircase down to your basement? Think about having an extra place to tuck in, read and relax!

Home School/Study Room:
Maybe your kids pile around the Kitchen island to do homework? Is the TV blaring in the background? Interruptions and distractions making it hard to focus? Or maybe you’ve made the decision to Home School? Wouldn’t it be nice to have a quiet, comfortable place for your kids to study and do homework?
