Northern VA Basement Remodeling: The Cost, Resale Value, and Schedule

February 20, 2015

Basement remodeling, or finishing your basement, is by far the most economical way to increase living space and value in your home. It can also be one of the quickest ways to add extra space since it is already part of your home.

We looked at the 2014 Cost Vs. Value Report, compiled by Remodeling Magazine, to review the average cost and resale value of a basement remodel in the Northern VA area. Pricing will vary depending on your project, however, this is a good baseline to compare pricing to.

  • Walls and ceilings are painted drywall throughout
  • Insulated exterior walls
  • Painted trim throughout the space

How long does this project take?

The amount of time to complete this type of project varies. Things to keep in mind are the size of the space, whether it is a full remodel, number of rooms, among other factors. It can take anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks to complete, depending on these factors.
